Torschliesserhaus in Stralsund

We ordered half a duck with red cabbage and dumplings for us. The food was delicious and came a little later, still hot, on the plate, thank you very much. It's nice that there are these hardworking people who give us enjoyment and valuable life.

Was there for the fourth time, says it all. Next time again. Very nice staff.

Love goes through the stomach and the eyes eat with it. Otherwise everything is fine and very nicely designed.

The last time I was to eat at the gate closer house was 3 years ago, it was like the last time I visited, good service, the gate closer pan can only be recommended ... just great ...

Without a reservation you can hardly get a place. But once inside, the food makes up for the effort. Very tasty and fun staff.

Today was the first time there to eat. Very friendly service. Super delicious food (best schnitzel and terrific fried potatoes) without a long wait. Gladly again and again when we vacation in the region again. We recommend!

Great experience! Delicious German Schnitzel (it's huge!!). The waitress was very friendly; the prices reasonable. What I enjoyed the most was the atmosphere, both inside and in the outside area where we were located. It got a little chilly later in the evening but they had heaters ready! Would go there again!

I was there in August 2020. Since the restaurant was already full, I was offered a seat directly at the fountain inside the house. The service was friendly and quick, the drinks and the food came quickly. The steak was delicious. I can happily recommend the gate closer house.

Super delicious food absolutely inexpensive, friendly and polite service, food was not long in coming. Ambience nice medieval rustic but very cozy. A visit very worthwhile!

The food was delicious, plentiful and reasonably priced. Above all, the drink prices are more than okay. The gate closer house is very quaint. We sat inside and it was very nice, but we also looked at the beer garden, which at least didn't convince us in the evening around 9 p.m. (maybe it's nice there during the day), and also the attic, where you can also eat. We thought it looked like a closet, but that's certainly a matter of taste. However, the service tipped the scales for only 4 stars. Nobody came to the table for ages to bring us the menu or order drinks. Then we had the card and had to wait again for the order to be placed, and in the end it took an incredibly long time to bring the bill we asked for. Otherwise, the waiter was very nice and wished us to stay healthy. Very nice in these times. :-)

Tasty dishes, I especially recommend herring matjes with potatoes and cheese soup. They also have a menu for kids. Great, very fiendly staff/ service !

Nice old house, cool atmosphere, very German. The food was nice but I believe a bit overpriced, we ordered the "Torschließerpfanne" 17.90€, and the drippings of hollandaise sauce were unnecessary, in a meat dish (especially in this price) the chef can make a wonderful sauce from the meats stock. We were sitting in a private niche close to the entrance which looked really nice but unfortunately, we had to suffer the cigarette smoke from smokers standing outside close to the door. I must personally say it killed a lot of the enjoyment, instead of smelling the nice food we had to inhale smoke. The really nice weiter saved the atmosphere with his charm.

The staff had their hands full on December 7th 19🍗😋 and they mastered it brilliantly with their quick and friendly service. The food was very tasty.

Great atmosphere, great decor and above all very good and tasty food at very reasonable prices. But you should definitely make a reservation. We recommend.

Good food in a great atmosphere. The rooms with a historical background are very comfortably furnished and inviting. Serves hearty dishes that are great and implemented. We were very satisfied! Highly Recommended!

Great food, service and atmosphere.

Historic restaurant with beer garden in the middle of a historic building complex. The atmosphere and atmosphere invite you to linger. Food and drinks are priced very fair and are served by the extremely friendly staff. We sat in a very cozy niche. For Fridays, or Saturdays you should reserve sufficiently long in advance. You can park in the nearby parking garage, as all around is residents park area.

The place is beautiful and the people is friendly. It has many nice old things to watch. The food is not 5 stars, tho, but it’s ok. It smells inside a bit like an old place where people smoked, but smoking is only allowed outside.

A very nice restaurant tucked away in a quiet corner of Stralsund. Well worth finding but try and book in advance as it appears to be very popular. We had pork schnitzel which covered the plate. Friendly staff who tolerated our limited German. Whilst we are here we are planning to visit again.

A fairy tale like fish restaurant, like the one in Disney's Rapunzel movie with the pub thugs scene. The ambience is fantastic, the food is excellent and the lady that served us is very nice. The restaurant is quite small and the location would be unexpected for a great restaurant. We are definitely coming back! My husband and I fell inlove with the place. Forgot to post the food, we got too excited to dig in.

Nice and friendly staff as always when you visit the oldest Tavern in Stralsund. They serve the best and biggest wienerschnitzel in Northern Germany! Well worth a visit.
